DJ Roy MclarenIn 2006, DJ Roy Mclaren remixed Something Different To Say by Etherfox for Nocturnal Groove. After this remix picked up widespread club support and was featured in The Shapeshifters Essential Mix on Radio One, he subsequently signed the Punch It EP to Nocturnal Groove which was released to critical acclaim and gained regular plays from likes of Nic Fanciulli, Mike Gray, ATFC and The Beginerz. Following that The Release Me EP followed, signed to Nocturnal Groove and featuring 4 original tracks with a groove for every dance floor, this EP was hugely successful, being supported by a number of the world's key players such as Frankie Knuckles, Eric Morillo and Roger Sanchez, he has also recently been recognised as one of the 'Unsung Heroes Of House' in M8 magazine. His new productions, 'Feel So Good' and 'Summer Sun' released on Defected and Funktion raised his profile higher, and with 5 new deadly tracks set for release in October, these forthcoming productions are expected to elevate his status even further and are truly some outstanding pieces of music, set to cause some serious damage across dancefloors for the forthcoming months ahead. Taking influence from his days on the dance floors of the rave scene, Roy channelled his energy into his own productions and promotions. He put on underground parties and promoted successful club nights in Stirling and Edinburgh and in 2003, after honing his technical ability behind the decks from an early age, Roy won the Scottish Open Decks Championship in Edinburgh. He was consequently invited to play at some of the top venues and festivals throughout Scotland. After graduating from Paisley University with a degree in Music Technology and Commercial Music, Roy has quickly developed as a producer. With releases under his own name and as Chorduroy Music on labels such as Sequential, Innovate, 1980 Recordings, Sexonwax, Funktion Recordings (Chicago) Nocturnal Groove and Defected. Roy's productions are gaining significant recognition. Roy has also, recently, taken his My Mate's Odd project - a live 8-piece house act - on the road to perform a series of live shows at venues throughout Scotland, including a residence at Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh, writing and producing all the material for the 8 piece band. Roy is one of Scotland's freshest young stars who is rapidly establishing a strong reputation for his talents both in the studio and in the DJ booth. As a DJ, Roy hosts regular
nights in Stirling, Edinburgh, Aberdeen as well as touring throughout
the UK and Europe. He was a resident at the Fubar in Stirling for four
years until being snapped up by Nocturnal Groove. He has recently taken
his captivating and original DJ sets to Ibiza, Sweden, France, Poland,
Ireland and Wales. Additionally Roy has played alongside the likes of
The Shapeshifters, Joey Negro, Seb Fontaine, Lottie, Justin Harris, ATFC,
Danism at venues throughout the UK, as well as closing the Nocturnal Groove
VIP arena at this year Global Gathering. Without doubt, Roy Mclaren is
a name to watch out for in 2009 and beyond!! Clubs/Bars
