The DJ (who everyone thought was excellent) had many requests to keep things going well beyond the published finishing time, and to his credit he amiably went along with it. Nobody wanted to leave. But when eventually things had to end there was a sense of satisfaction it has all gone so well.
Cherie Blair, alas, couldn't
make it - she was at a women's conference in Liberia - but many other
clients who have enjoyed the delights of Champneys health resorts were
among the 240 guests celebrating spa boss Stephen Purdew's wedding.
Nevertheless, Cherie gave
Stephen and his new bride Isabelle Cave, 28, a £500 beech tree -
as did guests including Liam Gallagher and his wife Nicole Appleton, Labour
MP Keith Vaz, EastEnders star Samantha Janus, former England footballers
Ian Wright and David Seaman, and chatshow host Piers Morgan.
They've no doubt regularly sampled his luxurious brand of hospitality over the years, so it came as no suprise that a sparkling array of celebrities turned out to celebrate the wedding of Champneys co-owner Stephen Purdew, 49, and his model bride, Isabelle Cave, 28.
Among this toasting the happy couple were media personality Piers Morgan, former England footballers Ian Wright and David Seaman, former world boxing heavyweight champion Frank Bruno, who was one of the ushers, Eastenders star Samantha Janus and TV presenter Anthea Turner.
HOLLYOAKS actress Jennifer Metcalfe cut the ribbon at the opening of the new women's clothes shop Lipsy in Liverpool city centre.
Jennifer, who plays Mercedes McQueen in the hit teen soap, was joined by her glamorous co-stars at the store's launch in the city’s Liverpool One.
The soap stars had earlier enjoyed a luxurious afternoon of pampering and “gifting” at the city's Malmaison hotel.

7,500 entrant's will gather at Battersea Power Station on the 12th November for the "Survival of the Fittest" contest. The event is sponsored by Land Rover and is set right inside the iconic London landmark.
