DJ Experience

Music has been at the heart of DJ J-Boyce’s life for as long as he can remember. From a young age, Jay was captivated by music; standing at the window of his parent’s third-floor flat in South East London at just five years old, blasting Elvis records from his tiny record player and banging on the glass to get the attention of passers-by. That early spark grew into a lifelong passion.

Over the years, Jay’s musical taste has evolved through many genres—from pop and rock in his school days to discovering the smooth sounds of soul legends like Luther Vandross, Alexander O’Neal, and Whitney Houston. In the ’90s, the rave and club scenes drew him into the world of dance music, with bands like The Beloved and Happy Mondays. Nights spent in iconic venues like Ministry of Sound and Club UK led DJ J-Boyce to explore house, trance, and club anthems that still influence his sets today.

Where have Female DJ Duo Lorraine Ashdown & Janice Vee played

Their passion for dance music has led them to play at clubs like Ministry of Sound, The Astoria, The Cross, The Jazz Café, Dingwalls & Rouge. They were the support act at Wembley Arena for the Spice Girls and have introduced live artists like Moloko, Lynden David Hall and Gus Gus on stage. The female DJ duo have warmed up for DJ legends Masters at Work, Gilles Peterson and Marshall Jefferson, as well as playing at clubs in Ibiza for MTV Rocks and Manumission. Lorraine has completed two DJ tours of Brazil taking in Rio, Sao Paulo and Brasilia. 

These days the girls have a monthly residency at Boisdale Canary Wharf and regularly introduce the live bands playing there like Odyssey, Loose Ends, Roland Gift and Boney M.

What Music Genres do they Play?

Lorraine and Janice never fail to disappoint, playing club classics, rare grooves, boogie, RnB, hip hop, pop and soulful and commercial dance. They are the perfect musical hostesses, bringing an infectious effervescent energy, that really connects with a crowd. They’ve recently played for The Arts Club Mayfair, Blue Marlin Ibiza, The Ned, Soho House, Ronnie Scotts, The Southport Weekender, Margate Soul Festival, The Modern Woman Show, 40 Something Disco, Martinez private members club as well at many weddings, private parties, birthday parties and corporate events.

Karen really ignited our wedding. Even before the party started! She was very sharp with music and offered great advice on our first dance. Being a choreographer herself, she also helped people with dances at the party. It was great fun! Planning a wedding is a lot of work, but I am so happy Karen was there to help us offload the party planning bits. Also really, really appreciate all the encouraging words!

Such a great experience with Platinum DJs! The team were extremely helpful with our questions before we booked our package and great communication throughout the process. DJ Karen was our DJ and she was amazing. We had some really helpful conversations on the phone with her beforehand and we appreciated how reassuring and helpful she was. On the day of the event, she made sure we had a great time and safe to say everyone had a brilliant time dancing thanks to the way she DJed. During his 3 years at university, Kerry regularly DJ’d at many bars and clubs and ran a successful funky house residency at M Club. In addition, he also DJ’d fortnightly at the student union bar where he played funky house, RnB, drum and bass and club classics. 

After leaving university, Kerry moved to Kent and began mobile DJ’ing at venues all over the county including a range of golf clubs, bars, pubs and social clubs.

I just wanted to let you know that I had a fantastic evening and a lot of that was down to Steve creating a fun and happy atmosphere. He got guests on the dance floor immediately and kept them there! He engaged with my guests to participate and made me feel very special during the evening.
