Cash

Yes, you right that right, only cash! Taking your debit or credit card out is, more often than not, a terrible idea. Your sober self might have excellent intentions but once you’ve had a few shandies you’re likely to contract looser inhibitions. Withdraw designated money beforehand so you can be sure not to spend more than you want to; always make sure you keep your taxi money separate though to make sure you can get home safely!

Keys

Even if you have every intention of travelling home with your housemate you never know what could happen. One of you could decide to stay out later than planned, one of you may decide to stay over at someone else’s house, or you may simply lose each other throughout the course of the night. To avoid any potential disasters, ensure that everyone has their own set of keys before heading out. While it is far from wise to leave a friend out alone, unforeseen circumstances do arise.

Phone

As with the keys, it is important to keep your mobile phone on your person at all times. You never know when you might get separated from your friends or suddenly need to call a taxi to take you home; it’s better to be safe than sorry. Although some people feel hesitant to take their phones on a night out, keep it securely in your bag, or safe in your pocket, to ensure it won’t make its way into someone else’s.

Mints

Whether you prefer soft mints, Tic Tacs or chewing gum something minty is essential to a night out. You may need to freshen a lightweight friend’s breath or to freshen your own before dancing with someone you like, even way there are a must.

Cosmetics

While this isn’t an essential item cosmetics and toiletries do improve many people’s nights out. Whether you take your lipstick in your handbag, to reapply throughout the night, or sneak a canister of deodorant in your jeans pocket to freshen up, make sure you’re fully prepared for all eventualities.

 Music

The music has to be right; if it’s too upbeat people may be put off mingling, if it’s too calm people might get tired and bored. It’s important to find the balance. Also, consider your guests; if you’ve invited mainly pop fans don’t solely play rock music as it’s important for any DJ, amateur or professional, to read their audience.

Guests

It is also important to invite both the right amount of guests and also the right guests. If you invite loads of individual people who don’t know each other it could get awkward; similarly, if you invite two groups of people, such as your work friends and your family, the night will probably be quite segregated. Ensure you invite a well-rounded group of people who’ll complement each other and the atmosphere of New Year’s Eve.

Neighbours

Don’t be inconsiderate: let your neighbours know in plenty of time that you’re throwing a party. If they are given enough warning they could either arrange to spend the night away from home or even throw a party of their own! Or you could use it as an excuse to socialise with neighbours who you don’t know particularly well. Remember: it is a time of festivities and not hostilities, keep your neighbours in the loop.

Confection

The right food and drink are essential to any party. Make sure you provide a wide variety of food and drink for your guests and, as with the music, make sure you know your audience. If you’ve invited a few teetotallers make sure you provide a good range of soft drinks for them; if you’ve invited vegan guests make sure they are given a few food and drink options to make them feel welcome. If you’re only going to be providing nibbles, warn your guests beforehand so they can have a more substantial meal before leaving home. Similarly, if you’ll be providing large quantities of food, ensure that your guests show up hungry.

Midnight

The worst New Year’s Eve parties are those which don’t acknowledge the event itself. Many organised events make a big deal out of it so make sure you match the efforts of the professionals. You could have a large clock counting down to the moment to excite your guests, or you could even keep the television on in the background and enjoy the London fireworks. No matter how you see the new year in, make sure that it’s not an anticlimax for you or your guests.

The lighting rig consists 2 x DMX Linked Intelligent Projection, Abstract Twister 4 – 250 Watt HPs (which beam synchronous colours and patterns in a laser type effect when used in conjunction with a Fog/Haze machine).

There are also 2 x XTC 250 Watt Rainbow Scanner/Splitters to cover the walls, ceiling and dancefloor with a rainbow flood of warm colours. The lighting can be controlled to give a contemporary night club display or a more traditional disco presentation.

Our Wedding DJs Playlists consist over 50,000 tracks covering every music genre from 1920’s to current. We update our DJ Playlists every week to stay up to date with the current music. We also offer Sennheiser EM-1 UHF Cordless Radio Microphones so speeches can be made from the top table. These Radio Microphones are of very high quality to eliminate interference and feedback.

Background Music

The Wedding DJ can play a selection of background music during dinner to create a pleasant ambiance. He can monitor the volume so it won’t intrude on conversations around the tables.
