How to hire the perfect DJ
It seems like everyone has a friend of a friend who DJs a bit on the side. He’ll provide the music at your wedding or party for next to nothing. Just buy him a beer and he’ll bang out some tunes. But what if he’s actually not very good at DJ-ing? If you want to guarantee that your guests have a great time at your party then you need to take your time and choose a professional, reputable DJ.
- Don’t let the price be the deciding factor: As with most things in life, if you want good quality then you’ll have to pay for it. If you’ve narrowed it down to a reputable DJ with 10 years experience, and a DJ with less experience but much cheaper, we’d always recommend paying that little bit extra to ensure you get the best for your party.
- Does the DJ appear professional?: Do they have a website you can visit to read testimonials and find out further information? Do they answer calls and emails in a timely, professional manner? If they have a professional approach then it shows they take what they do seriously, and really care about making your party a success.
- Do you know what you’re looking for?: Are you just looking for a DJ to turn up and play some music, or do you want the full disco experience? To really make your party stand out for your guests a full disco service is recommended, so make sure the DJ can provide lights and smoke etc.
- Discuss musical genres from the start: Before you hand any money over it’s vital that you make sure your chosen DJ will play the music that you like! If you love 60s soul and Motown but you’ve approached a DJ who usually plays current chart hits then he may not have the catalogue of music to support your requests.
