5 questions that you should ask your wedding DJ

A wedding DJ can make or break the day, so it’s important that you make the right decision when hiring yours. But that isn’t always easy. There are a lot of DJs out there, all gunning to be the one you choose.

To help you make the all important decision we’ve put together a list of questions you should ask the wedding DJ.

Can we meet before the wedding? – The DJ pretty much runs the show at the reception, so you must make sure that they’re right for you. A good DJ won’t have a problem with meeting you before the event. Why? Well because to do a good job they need to know you, your tastes, and as much as they can about the day.

Do you provide a written contract? – It’s a boring part of organising any wedding, but a written contract will ensure you know what you’re agreeing too. It’s a re-assurance and something you can turn back to if something goes wrong.

Do they requests? – It’s great that you have someone there to play music that you like all night, but you’ll have some guests who want to hear their favourite track. Ask if your DJ is happy to accommodate requests. Most will be, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

How big is your music library? – The last thing that you want is to hear the same playlist repeated over and over again. So make sure that your DJ can compile a massive collection of music that’s to your liking. Plus, the more music they have, the more likely they are to be able to accommodate those requests!

What equipment do you have? – It’s vital that the DJ you hire has all the equipment needed. You don’t want to have to hire a PA system or decks and you don’t want them to turn up with an iPod shuffle and a chair. The better equipment the DJ has the more professional they’re likely to be.
